Olhos de Água

Former fishing village at the foot of Praia da Falésia

Olhos de Água takes its name from the freshwater springs that bubble up through the sand at low tide, right in front of the village beach. Ten minutes east of central Albufeira, the mood is far quieter: a small bay lined with fish restaurants, colourful boats and the huge Praia da Falésia starting a few hundred metres away.

It is one of the most sought-after areas to rent a villa or apartment with a pool: low-rise residential streets, beach access on foot and Faro airport only 30 minutes away.

Praia de Olhos de Água

The village beach between two rocky points, where the famous freshwater springs surface in the sand at low tide.

Praia da Falésia

Six kilometres of sand below red and ochre cliffs all the way to Vilamoura, reached by the Barranco das Belharucas steps.

Praia Maria Luísa

A small photogenic cove below the cliffs, five minutes towards Albufeira.

Praia da Oura

A lively beach with full services and watersports schools, ten minutes away.

Things to do

Walk the Falésia at sunrise

The clifftop path between Olhos de Água and Vilamoura has the best light in the central Algarve.

Seafood dinner by the water

Restaurants around the bay serve the daily catch: sea bream, sargo or a seafood cataplana.

Golf and sport

Pine Cliffs and the Vilamoura courses are less than 15 minutes away.

Boat trip to the caves

Departures from Albufeira marina, 15 minutes away, towards Benagil and the coastal sea caves.
